Getting started

ZapaPUSH sends alerts from your scripts, servers and smart home straight to your phone. You get a URL and a key, you POST some text to it, and your phone buzzes. No SDK, no account setup on the sending side.

1. Install the app and sign in

Get ZapaPUSH from the App Store or Google Play, sign in with Apple, with Google or with your email (we send you a code), and allow notifications when your phone asks.

2. Find your key

Open the menu (☰) at the top left, then Settings. The Send an alert card shows:

  • the URL: https://api.zapapush.com/send
  • your key, which goes in the X-ZapaPush-Key header

The key is 40 characters (letters, digits, - and _). To get it onto a computer without typing it:

  • Pair a laptop: the app shows a 6-digit code. Open zapapush.com/pair on the laptop and type it; the page shows your key with Copy buttons. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes.
  • Email me my key: the key and a ready-to-paste curl line go to your sign-in email.
  • On a Mac with the same Apple ID, Copy in the app and paste on the Mac (Universal Clipboard).

Tap Send TEST notification to check that pushes reach your phone.

3. Send your first alert

curl -H 'X-ZapaPush-Key: YOUR_KEY' -d 'Disk full on db-1' https://api.zapapush.com/send

Your phone gets a push titled Disk full on db-1. The first line of what you send is the subject; anything after it is the description.

4. Handle it

In the app, swipe left on an alert, or open it:

  • Ack silences it. Repeats of the same subject update it quietly.
  • Close marks it done. The next post with that subject starts a new alert.

To handle many at once, open the menu and use Select alerts, Ack all alerts or Close all alerts.

Next: the Send API for every option, a ready-made example, or connect Prometheus Alertmanager, Grafana or any other tool, watch your cron jobs with heartbeats, or mute a group during a deploy with a maintenance window.
