Email to alert
Some tools can only send email: NAS boxes, UPS units, routers, old monitoring systems. Give them your ZapaPUSH address and every email becomes an alert.
Your address
Every key has its own address, like alert+3f9c2a7b51e04d8a6c11@zapapush.com. It's separate from your send
key, so you can put it into a device's settings without exposing the key.
To get yours:
- In the app, Settings → Email me my key: the email includes your alert address.
- Or ask the API with your key:
curl -H 'X-ZapaPush-Key: YOUR_KEY' https://api.zapapush.com/inbox
What happens
- The Subject is the alert's title. The same subject again updates the open alert instead of buzzing again, like the Send API.
- The text of the email is the description, with the sender on the first line. HTML-only emails are converted to plain text.
- Out-of-office and other automatic replies are ignored.
Limits
- Each email counts as one post towards the 60-per-minute limit. Over the limit, the email is bounced with "Too many alerts for this address".
- Emails over 1 MB are bounced.
- Mail to an unknown address is bounced.
